About Me.
Hi, I’m Szofi! Originally from Hungary, I’ve been living in The Netherlands for the past seven years. I’m currently completing my Master’s degree in Health and Medical Psychology, a field that aligns perfectly with my lifelong fascination with understanding how we, as humans, work.
My journey into psychology began early—I started my own therapy at a young age, which sparked a deep curiosity about the mind and its connection to our experiences. Over time, I developed a particular interest in anxiety disorders, especially health anxiety and OCD, as well as sports psychology. These passions guided me towards studying health and medical psychology, where I explore the intricate relationship between the mind and body.
I firmly believe that every “disorder” can be understood through the interconnected lenses of biology, psychology, and social factors. This perspective shapes my approach to counseling, where I focus on evidence-based practices. My favorite technique comes from third-wave Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which emphasizes being present, and self-acceptance. I completed two ACT certificates accredited by the International Association of Therapists, and currently completing the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Course by Russ Harris one of the most important figures in ACT.
I provide both online sessions and walking sessions in the beautiful parks of Amsterdam and nearby cities. Walking sessions offer a unique opportunity to explore thoughts more freely while engaging in low-intensity physical activity, which not only contributes to better mental health but also overall well-being. In a world increasingly dominated by screens and sitting, I aim to strive for meaningful connections with ourselves, others, and with nature.
I truly believe that being present and accepting ourselves just the way we are is the key to living a rich and meaningful life. If you are interested in exploring a slightly different approach in a slightly different setting in English or Hungarian, then sign up for walking counseling with me, but if you would prefer to do counseling from the comfort of your own home, I am also available for online counseling.
